Smiles for New Mexico Kids is New Mexico's Premiere Mobile Dentistry Unit for onsite dentistry at schools around the state!
Learn More ›Smiles for New Mexico Kids was started in 2007 with the aim of providing a dental “home” for those children around the state who do not receive regular oral healthcare. Our 54-foot-long mobile clinic is uniquely designed and newly remodeled to provide a fun, positive experience for every child who receives dental services. Each of our four pediatric “chairs” is fully equipped with all the normal tools and equipment found in a traditional dental office, such as air, water, suction, etc. This allows us to perform exams all the way up to standard dental procedures.
Our state-of-the-art, five-chair mobile clinic has traveled around the state of New Mexico and provided dental services to more than 4,000 students, per year seen at over 70 different schools since 2007. We service many elementary and middle schools statewide, with a concentration in Albuquerque.
The unit is powered by a large generator built in the rear of the trailer and has all the modern amenities of a dental office, including state-of-the-art digital X-rays and a panoramic X-ray machine, computer monitors, running water, air conditioning, and central heat.
Our dentist and dental assistants are all specially trained to cater to the needs of kids. We realize that taking care of children involves much more than just fixing teeth. That’s why we take the time to develop lasting relationships with each child built on trust and kindness. It’s the cornerstone of who we are.
We operate during school hours right on the grounds of the school. Your child will be escorted from class to the parked mobile unit and back. Your child's visit is all about your child: his or her comfort, happiness, and health. During your child’s visit, we will perform a routine cleaning and exam, and take X-rays of your youngster’s teeth and mouth. Then one of the doctors will determine any necessary treatment, and perform most procedures in the same visit. If we find there is something we cannot treat the in same visit due to time constraints or procedure complications, we will refer you to one of our 12 offices state wide to have the work completed in office and all files transferred.
In addition, we have mobile nitrous tanks to provide our patients with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to ensure that each child has a positive experience when he or she receives necessary follow-up treatment
